Minister Eoghan Murphy visits Housing Construction Sites in KilkennyResond and Oakley2

Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government, Deputy Eoghan Murphy, T.D., visited Kilkenny on Thursday 1st August and took the opportunity to visit some of Kilkenny's housing development sites.

Utilising the various supports available under the Government's Rebuilding Ireland Programme, Kilkenny County Council delivered more than 200 new homes in the County in 2018 and will provide in excess of 250 additional social housing units in 2019. These homes are made available through build, acquisition and leasing schemes in conjunction with Approved Housing Bodies and Builders.

Minister Murphy visited two construction sites in Kilkenny City at Nuncio Road and Walkin Street where new homes are being developed by Approved Housing Bodies, Respond and Oaklee, in conjunction with Kilkenny County Council by utilising funding streams made available under Rebuilding Ireland. When complete both schemes will provide in total 77 new homes for Kilkenny City.

Cathaoirleach, Cllr. Peter 'Chap' Cleere viewing the construction sites acknowledged Kilkenny's strong performance in housing delivery, stating that "housing delivery whether private or social, new build or lease, results in housing solutions for individuals and families who need them, and we must continue to provide new and varied solutions to meet that need all over the county".
