Minister Ring accompanied by the Piltown Enterprise Centre Board members at Piltown Enterprise Centre Phase 2 development, accompanied by Minister of State John Paul Phelan

On Thursday 24th May, Minister Michael Ring accompanied by Minister for State John Paul Phelan visited the Piltown Enterprise centre to see the works underway.

Phase 2 of the development is a second building at the enterprise centre, which is due to open later this year. It is planned that this will attract 5 businesses into the old creamery site and help to create as much as 20 additional jobs in the Piltown area. Kilkenny County Council in co-operation with Piltown Enterprise Centre applied for €200,000 under the 2017 Town and Village Renewal Scheme and the application was successful.

Minister Ring met with members of the Enterprise centres' board of management and met the three existing tenants. The contractors, Tom Delahunty Construction were on hand to show the Minister the plans for the centre and progress since April.

At the visit Minister Ring said 'The project has received €200,000 through my Department's Town and Village Renewal Scheme, and once completed, will help create jobs through its support of local businesses. I believe that people should be given the opportunity to have a decent quality of life, wherever they decide to live in Ireland, and my Department's focus is to help communities across the country realise their potential.'

The Minister was also shown around the Centre by Gerri Hickey and Eddie Blackmore from the Piltown Enterprise Board and the Minister was impressed with current business and with the enterprising ethos and experience shown by the Board.
