Information Notice

Kilkenny County Council is supporting the Kilkenny City Harriers, Streets of Kilkenny 5k Road race which will take place on Thursday 18th April, 2018 at 7.30pm. The race is part of a the KIA national series of races brought to you by Pop up Races. The race is likely to attract up to 1000 participants.
The route of the race is outlined below and the race will consist of two laps of the illustrated route, starting and finishing on The Parade.

To support the race, statutory road closures are in place for the race route and adjoining roads/streets, effective from 7.00pm to 8.30pm on 18th April.

From 7.00p.m. to 8.30p.m. St. Francis Bridge and John's Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic and vehicular traffic will be redirected via the Ossory Ring Road Bridge and Green's Bridge. Please co-operate with An Garda Siochana, the various stewards and please observe and obey the diversion signs.

It is of note that there will be no vehicular access to or from public car parks at Market Yard, Watergate, Horsebarrack Lane, John's Quay and Wolfe Tone Street from 7.00pm to 8.30pm on Thursday 18th April. Vehicular access to and from the Market Cross Car Park will be via James Street only. Similarly vehicular access to and from on-street parking spaces will not be facilitated during the event.

The Streets of Kilkenny 5k is a novel, new sporting experience for Kilkenny City. Please come out and view the spectacle of up to 1000 athletes running through our City Streets.

The road closures and restrictions will only apply from 7pm to 8.30pm and, outside of that one and a half hours, it is business as usual in Kilkenny City.
