Naming of New Bridge on the River Nore

Kilkenny County Council received 90 submissions and 67 suggested names for the naming of the new bridge from the public consultation process in February, 2017. These have now been examined and shortlisted by the Naming of Infrastructure Committee as follows:

  • Berkeley Bridge
  • Cathedral Bridge
  • Chancellors Bridge
  • Edmond Smithwick Bridge
  • Edmund Rice Bridge
  • William Marshall Bridge
  • St. Francis Bridge
  • Strongbow's Bridge

Members of the public are now invited to comment if they wish on the above shortlist for the naming of the new bridge.

Comments should be forwarded to the undersigned on or before 5.00 pm on Friday the 21st April, 2017 or alternatively to

Kilkenny County Council will select the most appropriate name, using the criteria in the Council's Naming and Commemorative Memorial Policy.
