Funding Announced for Three Projects in Kilkenny Under Clár 2019 Scheme

Three Community Projects in Kilkenny were allocated funding in an announcement today by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Mr. Michael Ring, T.D. Kilkenny County Council welcomes this announcement for the following projects:

CLÁR provides funding for small infrastructural projects in rural areas that have suffered high levels of rural depopulation. Measure 1 of the programme includes support for the provision of footpaths, public lighting, pedestrian crossings, speed safety signs and car parking facilities.

Measure 2 supports the construction of new playgrounds and Multi Use Games Areas, as well as the upgrade of existing playgrounds and equipment in many communities. All of the funding is designed to improve the quality of life for people in these very rural areas.

Applications for funding were made for 10 projects under this Funding Stream and commiserations to the projects that did not receive funding. The Council will request feedback from the Department of Rural and Community Development to advise communities on further developing their applications for funding under next year's CLÁR Scheme.

An Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council, Cllr. Peter 'Chap' commented: "I am delighted with the announcement of funding for these very worthwhile projects in Kilkenny which will enhance the lives of the people of these communities. I am disappointed for the unsuccessful applications, but Kilkenny County Council staff will work with these communities to improve their applications for funding under the scheme in the coming years."
