NOTICE OF PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT BY LOCAL AUTHORITY


Golf Links Road (LP2613), New Orchard Road(LP2613)
& Lover’s Lane (LP2603) Improvement Scheme in accordance with Part 8,Article 81 of the
above Regulations, Kilkenny County Council hereby gives notice of proposals
pertaining to the Golf Links Road (LP2613),New Orchard Road (LP2613) & Lover’s Lane
(LP2603) Improvement Scheme

The proposed Scheme will include the following:

  • Improvement to horizontal and vertical alignment of existing carriageway.
  • 1.8 kms of pavement improvement.
  • Provision of a 1.5m wide raised cycle track and 1.8m foot path on each side of the carriageway along the proposed realigned section of the Golf Links Road and New Orchard Road.
  • Provision of a 1.8m footpath on each side of Lovers Lane.The footpath on Lovers Lane will be extended so as to connect into the existing foot path infrastructure.
  • The provision of traffic calming features along the route.
  • Provision of dropped kerbs with tactile paving at all strategic pedestrian crossing points.
  • Provision of raised zebra crossings with Belisha beacons and tactile paving at specific pedestrian desire lines.
  • Provision of a roundabout at the junction of Lovers Lane, Golf Links Road and New Orchard Road.
  • Provision of Bus Bays along the route on New Orchard Road and Golf Links Road.
  • Provision and upgrading of existing public lighting.
  • Relocation and under grounding where feasible, of existing overhead and underground utility lines.
  • The removal of a number of mature trees from the green area in front of New Orchard Estate.
  • The enhancement of green areas which will include for the planting of semi mature trees, shrubbery landscaping and seating areas.
  • Provision of on-street parking bays.
  • The up-grading and provision of a sustainable surface water drainage system.
  • The provision of road signage and markings in accordance with the Traffic Signs Manual.
  • Erection of fencing, gates and walls along newly formed boundaries created by the proposed scheme.

 

Details of the schemes may be inspected from the 13th of February 2008 to the 28th of March 2008,
at the Road Design Office, Kilkenny County Council,1 Dean St, Kilkenny, during office hours 9am-1pm and 2pm to 5pm
Monday to Friday and Kilkenny County Council, County Hall, Johns St, Kilkenny.
