The WAM Programme are partnering with a number of local authorities nationally to offer paid, mentored, work placements exclusively for graduates with disabilities commencing from May 2025.

Kilkenny County Council provides services to a population of over 103,000 citizens in County Kilkenny in areas of housing, roads, transportation, planning, environment, economic and community development, tourism, libraries, fire and emergency response, parks, amenities, heritage, arts and water services.

Role Duties and Responsibilities


The graduate role will be located in the Human Resources (HR) DepartmentThe key duties and responsibilities of the post may include:

  • Providing a comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the section, department, or division.
  • Ensuring high levels of customer service, responding to queries and requests for information in-person, online and on telephone in a professional and courteous and timely manner.
  • Communicating and liaising effectively with employees, supervisors and managers in other sections, senior managers, and customers in relation to operational matters for their section.
  • Compiling, preparing, and presenting reports as necessary, including the preparation of reports or letters, which may be sensitive and/or confidential in nature.
  • Organising and facilitating internal and external meetings/events and participating and engaging in discussions as appropriate.
  • Providing specialist administrative assistance and support in the delivery of projects as required.
  • Maintaining an effective document management or filing system as required.
  • Preparing and completing standard letters, forms, reports, emails and statistics within clearly defined information.
  • Dealing with standard enquiries and correspondence by email, including forwarding to other members of the section, coordinating draft replies, flagging, tracking and following up emails and correspondence as appropriate.
  • Providing a data entry service, maintaining spreadsheets and databases as required.
  • Raising purchase orders on the Agresso system, dealing with enquiries from suppliers and providing a basic accounts function for the section.
    Undertaking any other duties as required by the Council from time to time.
