Waste Prevention Grant 2021

Kilkenny County Council is offering community groups an opportunity to promote waste prevention, creating an opportunity to look at waste differently and to determine if we can handle our resources better, to contribute to a zero waste society and encourage a circular economy. Preference will be given to projects that contribute to a zero waste lifestyle which by means of education, craft or innovation. Waste streams which are excluded from this year's fund are tyres and wood, therefore no projects will be considered for funding if the principal material involves tyres or wood.

If successful, applicants receive half of the grant up front and the remainder will be paid when a project completion report is received detailing the project outcomes.

Examples of eligible projects include:
- Repair Skills Workshops
- Up-cycling Workshops
- Elimination of single-use items
- Food Waste Prevention

Anyone considering submiting an application is welcome to contact the Councils Environmental Awareness Officer for advice prior to the closing date.
