The central control room or watchroom is operated by three phone-duty men; P. Slattery, B. Lonergan and K. Thomas. All 999/112Emergency Calls come through the central control room.

Kilkenny's central control room has a call-out system to all outside stations. If the phone-duty man received a call from a person in Callan he can alert the Callan Fire Brigade by means of alerter. This applies to all outside stations as well. All major factories, schools and hospitals have a direct fire alarm line to Kilkenny City's central control room.
