Water Safety collaborative training with Kilkenny fire-fighters

'Kilkenny Water Safety' training with firefighters, June 2005

Firefighters from County Kilkenny on Water Safety Course

Firefighters from Callan, Thomastown and Kilkenny City Fire Brigades complete Water Safety Training Course.

In the event of any type of accident in Kilkenny City or County the first to be called out are our firemen. To be called to an incident at or near the river in an area that's flooded would not be unusual. With this in mind our firemen trained in dealing with floods and fast water rescue.

The firemen from seven stations, Kilkenny City, Urlingford, Freshford, Callan, Thomastown and Graiguenamanagh were trained in flood and fast water rescue by Kilkenny Water Safety. Each station has also been trained in using new equipment and supplied with ropes and life jackets. The course was organised by local water safety members and Kilkenny is the only county outside of Dublin to have completed such training.
