Press Release - Funding Announced for 11 Rural Walk and Trail Schemes across County Kilkenny.

€300,000 secured under the Outdoor Recreation and Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) for f 11 projects. The projects include upgrade works in Graiguenamanagh, Woodstock Estate, Windgap and Mooncoin

There was great news for Kilkenny earlier this week as funding of over €300K was secured under Measure 1 of the Outdoor Recreation and Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) for a total of 11 projects. The projects include upgrade works in Graiguenamanagh, Woodstock Estate, Windgap and Mooncoin.

ORIS provides funding for the development and maintenance of outdoor amenities such as trails, walkways and cycle ways. Minister Humphrey, TD, announced funding of almost €6 million to develop over 200 outdoor adventure projects across the country.

Welcoming the announcement of funding for Kilkenny based projects, Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council, Cllr. Pat Fitzpatrick said “I am delighted to see this funding. Outdoor amenities have become a central and increasingly important part of our lives in the last three years. It is fantastic to see this level of funding being made available to develop these projects in rural areas, which will make such a difference to local communities. Well done to all involved”
