Funding announced of €6.3 million for National Road Projects in Kilkenny From Transport Infrastructure Ireland
Kilkenny County Council welcomes the announcement of funding of € 6,329,087 for the 2019 programme of works from Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII). The funding includes for the delivery & design a number of strategic road projects such as,
- N24 Cahir to Waterford - the section west from Mooncoin, and,
- N25 Waterford to Glenmore which will connect to the New Ross bypass which is due to open later this year.
A number of minor schemes also received funding to progress to planning\tender including the N24 Tower Road safety scheme which will include a flyover and the realignment of the N77 from Ballyragget Village to the Ballynaslee improvement scheme.
The N76 Callan road will see further improvements with approximately €2.7 million allocated for pavement improvements on sections from Brownstown to Callan.
Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council, Cllr Eamonn Aylward commented that he "welcomed the continued investment in the road network in Kilkenny by TII and in particularly progress towards the implementation of the road safety scheme on N24 at the Tower Road, Piltown"
Kilkenny County Council will continue to work with Transport Infrastructure Ireland to ensure that the projects can be delivered for the County.
