Pride of Place 2017

Pride of Place is an all-island competition that acknowledges the work that communities are doing across the island of Ireland. The competition focus is about people coming together to shape, change and improve daily lives in their communities.

The competition is a result of an initiative instigated 1n 2003 by Chairman, Tom Dowling under the auspices of Co-operation Ireland's Local Authority All Island Steering Forum. This community motivational initiative continues to grow from strength to strength and is now the island of Ireland's most prestigious community event. In 2012, IPB Insurance became headline sponsor. It has now been designated the IPB Pride of Place Awards in association with Co-operation Ireland


The 2016 Awards took place in in Belfast last year and will take place in Letterkenny in County Donegal in December 2017 where communities from all over Ireland will participate
Kilkenny County Council will once again be participating in the 201 7 competition with four entries going forward. The nominated groups from Kilkenny include the Ballykeefe Amphitheatre (Creative Place), Kells Vil I age (Population 3 00-1000).Newpark Close (Urban Neighbourhood) and Tullahought Population (0-300)
