De La Salle and Haddens - 1984

At 03.22 on the morning of the 4th of May a call was received in the watchroom of the Kilkenny City Fire Station stating that classrooms were on fire in the De la Salle School. The fire was brought under control at about 04.30. Extensive damage was done to many classrooms and the cost ran into thousands of pounds.

Kilkenny City and County often assist surrounding counties in major fires, for example:

Also in 1984 Kilkenny was called by Carlow Fire Service to assist in a major fire in Haddens of Tullow Street. Kilkenny sent it's snorkel and a water tender from Thomastown. This fire caused well over one million pounds worth of damage.
