The Piltown Local Area Plan expired in January 2017, but the plan does contain a significant amount of information on the natural and built heritage and other planning issues. The expired Plan will be used as a supplementary guidance document.
Piltown Local Area Plan - Adopted 17th January 2011
Kilkenny County Council formally adopted the Local Area Plan for Piltown at the Meeting of the County Council on the 17th January, 2011. This Local Area Plan came into effect on 14th February, 2011.
The Local Area Plan is available for viewing on this website below. It is also available for inspection at the Planning Department at County Hall, John Street, Kilkenny between the hours of 9-1 and 2-4p.m. Monday to Friday.
Copies of the LAP area available for purchase through the Planning Department, Kilkenny County Council at a cost of €20 for a hard copy.

Notice of proposed Material Alterations to the Draft Local Area Plans for Fiddown and Piltown
Kilkenny County Council is in the process of making Local Area Plans for Fiddown and Piltown and propose to make Material Alterations to the Draft Local Area Plans (LAPs).
A copy of the proposed Material Alterations to the Draft LAPs may be inspected from Wednesday 17th November to Friday 17th December, 2010 at the following locations:

Submissions with respect to the proposed Material Alterations to the Draft Local Area Plans, made in writing to the Director of Services, Planning, County Hall, John Street, Kilkenny and received before 4pm on Friday 17th December, 2010 will be taken into consideration before the Local Area Plans are made. Submissions can also be made via email to localareaplans@kilkennycoco.ie
Information on the likely significant effects on the environment of implementing the proposed Material Alterations to the draft plans will also be available for inspection and a submission or observation in relation to such information made to the Planning Authority in the stated period above will be taken into consideration before the making of any Material Alteration.

Manager's Report on Submissions received to the Draft Piltown & Fiddown LAPs
At the Special Council Meeting of 1st November 2010, the Council discussed the Manager's Reports on Submissions to the Draft Local Area Plans for Fiddown and Piltown and resolved to publish a number of proposed Material Alterations to the Draft Plans in accordance with the recommendations in the Manager's Report.
Fiddown and Piltown Local Area Plan - Review

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the County of Kilkenny propose to make Local Area Plans (LAPs) for Fiddown and Piltown.
A copy of the Draft LAPs may be inspected from Wednesday 7th July to Friday 20th August, 2010 at the following locations:

Habitat Assessment
A Habitat Assessment will shortly be carried out in Fiddown and Piltown. A number of these assessments are being carried out in towns and villages in County Kilkenny where Local Area Plans are due to be reviewed. The assessments will assist with highlighting and reviewing the natural heritage of the areas and will be an input to the plan-making process. An information leaflet is available here:
Summary of Public Consultation Meeting
Following the public consultation event for the Fiddown and Piltown Local Area Plans that took place on the evening of the 10th November 2009 in the Piltown Parish Community Centre a Summary report is now available.

The next step will be considering all the issues highlighted and gathering them into a Draft Plan, which is scheduled for public display in February/March 2010.

Notice of Local Area Plan Review - October 2009
Notice is hereby given that Kilkenny County Council intends to review the Local Area Plans for Fiddown and Piltown and to prepare new Local Area Plans to cover these areas.
Submissions or observations regarding the preparation of this Local Area Plan may be made, in writing, to the Director of Services, Planning, County Hall, John Street, Kilkenny from 6th November 2009 until 5 pm on Friday 15th January, 2010 or you can make submissions by email to localareaplans@kilkennycoco.ie
During this period public consultation meetings will take place in order to allow for members of the public to engage in the process of the review of the Plans. You are invited to attend a public consultation workshop in Piltown Parish Community Centre on Tues 10th November at 7.30 pm.
All written and email submissions/observations received on or before the 15th January 2010 will be considered by the County Council prior to the making of a draft Local Area Plan.
