Details of Amendment No. 1 to Thomastown Local Area Plan
Amendment 1 of Thomastown Local Area Plan 2009
In accordance with Section 20 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended), notice is hereby given that Kilkenny County Council amended the Thomastown Local Area Plan 2009 on the 16th November 2009.
The amendments are listed below, together with maps 1 & 2 and may be read in conjunction with a copy of the Thomastown Local Area Plan 2009.
• Change zoning of the lands of the former Boys National School from ‘Community/ Education’ to ‘Mixed Use’.
• Change zoning of the lands with existing garage and light industrial uses to the rear of the Garda Station from ‘Community/ Education’ to ‘Mixed Use’.
• Include the following wording as section 3.2.9 - Non-Conforming Uses:
Throughout the town there are uses which do not conform to the zoning objectives for the area. Extensions to and improvements of premises accommodating these uses may be permitted where the proposed development would not seriously injure the amenities of the area or prejudice the proper planning and development of the area. In some cases, the Planning Authority may encourage relocation of permitted incompatible uses, for example by exchange of sites.

THOMASTOWN LOCAL AREA PLAN 2009 - PROPOSED AMENDMENT 1
In accordance with Section 20 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended), notice is hereby given that Kilkenny County Council intends to amend the Thomastown Local Area Plan 2009.
The proposed amendments are listed below, together with maps 1 & 2 and may be read in conjunction with a copy of the Thomastown Local Area Plan 2009.

Submissions with respect to the Proposed Amendment, made in writing to the Director of Services, Planning, County Hall, John Street, Kilkenny and received before 4pm on the 6th November 2009, will be taken into consideration before the Proposed Amendment is made.
