Trade Plates

Information on how to obtain Trade Plates from the Motor Tax office and what you need.

Trade Plates are issued to Motor Traders in order to use un-taxed/un-registered vehicles on the road in limited circumstances.

When applying for Trade plates, the following information will be required:

RF700
Download RF700 here
Insurance Certificate showing Motor Trade under limitations of use
Proof of VAT registration with Revenue dated within the last 12 months
Proof of rates account with Kilkenny County Council dated within the last 12 months
Appropriate Fee

For Motor Cycles ONE SET of Trade Plates consists of ONE plate

All Other Vehicles must display TWO plates, one front and one rear

Trade Plate prices are as follows:

Motor Cycle only €59 (1 plate) - Replacement €38

All other vehicles €353 (2 plates) - Replacement €86
