Community Sports Facility Fund

The Community Sport Facilities Fund is the primary vehicle for government support for the development of sports and recreation facilities and the purchase of non-personal sports equipment throughout the country.

The name of the programme has been changed from the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme to the Community Sport Facilities Fund to better reflect the community focus of the programme.

Kilkenny County Council makes applications to the Community Sports Facility Fund to upgrade and enhance the sporting facilities owned and operated by the Council.

In the latest round of funding, 4no. projects were allocated funds:

  • Waterbarracks, Kilkenny City
  • Garringreen, Kilkenny City
  • Kilkenny Countryside Park
  • Ballyragget

Works on all 4 projects are being progressed by the team in the Capital Delivery Office & Parks Department.
