The public are advised that the Carlow Kilkenny Dog Shelter at Garryduff, Paulstown is open to members of the public by appointment only. Appointments may be made by contacting              the shelter on 059 972 6785.

Our dog warden service is in operation. For assistance please contact the dog warden at the dog shelter on 059 972 6785 or the Environment Office, Kilkenny County Council on 056 779 4470 (Monday to Friday 9.00am-5.00pm). Outside of these hours, please phone 087 3928488 (public safety issues, livestock worrying, restricted breeds) or contact your local Garda station who will liaise with our dog warden service, or alternatively for non-emergencies email dogwardenkilkenny@carlowkilkennyds.ie

SPOT CHECKS ON DOG LICENCES

The Dog Warden, as part of his activities under the Control of Dogs legislation, undertakes spot checks of dog licences, calling door to door. When the Dog Warden calls you will be requested to show a current valid dog licence in respect of each dog in your ownership (or a general dog licence).

Dog owners who fail to comply with the dog licensing laws are liable to an on the spot fine of €100.00 and/or prosecution with fines up to €1,270.00.

You are advised that the Dog Warden carries official identification, and if you wish you may contact Kilkenny County Council (056/7794470) to verify this identification.
