N24 Mooncoin Bypass Malone ORegan Scott Wilson have recently been appointed to continue the design of the 11km. stretch of the N24 from Grannagh to the Piltown Fiddown Bypass. This scheme is called the Mooncoin Bypass. The consultants have been employed to bring the scheme forward to Compulsory Purchase and other statutory requirements. It will include the Preliminary Design of the route, preliminary Ground Investigation and Environmental Studies.
Introduction
The N24 forms part of the Western Road Corridor which is a strategic corridor linking the cities of Waterford and Limerick. This Corridor is part of the National inter-urban network as identified for improvement in the National Development Plan 2000-2006
The development of the N24 Mooncoin By-pass is being promoted by Kilkenny County Council assisted by Tramore House Regional Design Office and is being designed by Malone O'Regan Scott Wilson Consulting Engineers.
Need for the scheme
The N24 Piltown-Fiddown has recently been opened to traffic and the Waterford By-pass is due for completion by 2006. The Mooncoin By-pass will complete the upgrading of the N24 in County Kilkenny.
Current Status
